The teachers and students of the “Polo ‘L. Bianciardi’” are proud to welcome you and to present their school.

We are an Institute of Higher Education that students may attend after leaving the Middle School. Our complex includes various fields of study:

1. A High School Specializing in the Study of Art

2. A High School Specializing in the Study of Music

3. A Professional Institute Specializing in Business Management and Computer Science

4. A Professional Institute Specializing in Graphic Design and Multimedia

5. A Technical Institute Specializing in Graphic and Communication

The head office of the “Polo ‘L. Bianciardi,’” is located at 31 Piazza de Maria, Grosseto. It is within walking distance of the city center and is easily accessible by means of public transport. At this location, there are classes of the High Schools specializing in the Study of Music, Business Management and Computer Science, and the Two-Year Program of the Professional Institute of Graphic Design and Technical Graphics.

Considering our large number of students, there are another two high school locations; one is in Via de’ Barberi, which offers the Three-Year Program of the Professional Institute Specializing in Graphic and Technical Graphic Design, and another is in Via d’Alma, which is the High School Specializing in the Study of Art.

Upon completion of a field of study, thanks to the solid cultural foundation acquired, our students may choose to apply to any University Program. The alternative is that the technical-professional skills achieved during their studies enable our students to choose to enter the work world, directly. Participation in the areas of study offered through our Professional Institutes provides the opportunity for our students to begin working after the third year of studies, provided they have obtained the Diploma of Regional Qualifications.

High School Specializing in the Study of Art

The High School Specializing in Artistic Studies enables our students to acquire a solid humanistic-scientific preparation in addition to knowledge of the artistic patrimony and the skills necessary to produce works of graphic design, painting, modelling and sculpturing, architecture and multi-media.

After a standard two-year program, students may choose from the following areas of study:

- Figurative Art (Painting-Sculpture)

- Architecture and Environment

Moreover, continued general culture studies include Italian, History and Geography, Philosophy, Math, English, Natural Science, Physics and Chemistry.

To deepen “Figurative Art” and “Architecture and Environment” area, specific labs, respectively for Figuration and Design, are set up.

During the course of study, students will participate in a series of workshops in important laboratories including those of Volterra for alabaster, Ravenna for mosaics, Carrara for marble, Venice for artistic glass-working, etc. Moreover, students will participate in exhibits and create work for public and private companies.

At the conclusion of their studies, students may apply to any University program, as well as to Institutes of Higher Artistic Training (for example: The Academy of Fine Arts, Higher Institutes for Design, Restoration, Fashion, Illustration and Comics, etc.)

High School Specializing in the Study of Music

The High School specializing in Musical Studies allows students to acquire a solid foundation in humanistic-scientific studies and is characterized by the technical-practical aspects of music and the study of its role in history and culture. Thanks to the emphasis on individual and group study, students are able to participate in vocal and instrumental groups and use at least two musical instruments with confidence. They will know how to use the main electro-acoustic technologies and the software that allows for the registration and editing of sound. Moreover, they will study subjects of general culture that include Italian, History and Geography, Philosophy, Math, English, Natural Science and Physics.

During the school year, students will participate in shows and concerts for events at both local and national levels.

The school is equipped with an Auditorium as well as specially equipped rooms. Upon conclusion of the High School Program, students may apply to any University Program, as well as courses to achieve a Level 1 Academic Diploma at the Conservatory.

Professional Institute: Business Management and Computer Science

With a Diploma in Business Services, Business Management and Computer Science, students acquire the knowledge necessary to interact in the business world. Their experiences and studies prepare them for management level positions in all business sectors: crafts, commercial industry, tourism, etc. Other possible occupations include working in administrative- accounting management in public and private offices, marketing and website programming. During the lessons, students will use their knowledge of computer technologies to elaborate business simulations to create products commissioned by companies located in the surrounding territory.

In addition to general culture subjects such as Italian, History, Math, English, Law, Natural Science, Physics and Chemistry, there is particular emphasis on subjects including Business Economy, Communication Techniques, Computer Science and Laboratory, as well as a second Foreign Language that students may choose between French and German.

The Combined School-Work program offers various opportunities for students to enrich and reinforce their academic studies by means of continuous contact with the companies located around Grosseto: internships, interactive class workshops with experts and important associations, visits to various companies.

In contrast to the High School and Technical courses of study, in the Business Services – Business Management program, students may achieve a Diploma of Qualified Administrative Secretary beginning from the Third year.

Professional Institute: Graphic Design - Multimedia

With a Diploma of Business Services, Graphic Media, students may organize manifestations, advertising campaigns and manage marketing strategies based on the technical knowledge and the ability to use computer tools and professional software in the field of Graphics, Photography and Video. Our graduates find work in advertising agencies, photography and cinema laboratories, and agencies with products for communication (printing, screen-printing, etc.)

In addition to general culture subjects such as Italian, History, Math, English, Law, Natural Science, Physics and Chemistry, particular emphasis is placed on subjects including Professional Techniques (Graphic Design, Photography and Video), Art History, Techniques of Communication, Business Economy, as well as the choice of a second Foreign Language: French or German. During their course of study, students participate in exhibitions and competitions for the creation of works commissioned by public or private Agencies (The Region of Tuscany, The Industrial Association, the Prefecture, etc.)

The Combined School-Work Program enables students to enrich and reinforce competencies acquired, and permits continuous contact with companies in and around Grosseto: internships, class workshops led by job experts, visits to the companies.

Contrary to High School and Technical courses of study, in the Business Services – Graphics and Media, students may achieve a Diploma of Qualified Graphic-Media Operator beginning from the Third year.

Technician of Graphics and Communication

The Diploma of the Technician of Graphics and Communication has specific competencies in the field of communication, graphics and computer science: he/she is able to create projects and achieve multimedia products, photographs and audiovisuals, and may work in the editorial, printing and paper industries. During the scholastic course of study, students create short films, commercials, interviews, audio and video assembly.

In addition to standard areas of study (Italian, History, English, Math, Science) there are pertinent subjects including Multimedia Design, Technology of Production Processes, Laboratory Technicians, Organization and Process Management. The Combined School-Work program, offers students the opportunity to create products commissioned by agencies or companies across the territory and participate in internships and guided visits of companies from different professional sectors.

Upon completion of the course of study, students may apply to any University program, in particular for a Degree in DAMS (Disciplines of Art, Music and Theatre), Architecture and Design. Students may also find work in the Editorial sector, graphic and photography studios, printing, television, newspapers and film production.
